CCD Owner's Body Recovered On Banks Of Netravati River After 36 Hours

A day after Cafe Coffee Day founder V G Siddhartha went missing on his way to this coastal city in Karnataka from Bengaluru, his decomposed body was found on the banks of Netravati River near Hoige Bazaar in Mangaluru on Wednesday. The body will now be sent for postmortem and will then be handed over to the family. The body had washed ashore near Ullal and was fished out by local fishermen, following which police reached the spot.

Huge Win For Modi Govt, Triple Talaq Bill Passed In Rajya Sabha

In a historic victory for the Narendra Modi government in the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House on Tuesday passed a bill that makes instant triple talaq a criminal offence and provides for a jail term to a Muslim man for the crime. The Upper House passed the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2019, by 99 votes in favour and 84 against it. The Lok Sabha had passed the bill last week and with the Rajya Sabha now approving it, the practice of instant divorce by Muslim men will be punishable by jail term of up to three years.

The Yogi Adityanath government has appealed for CBI investigation in the accident case of Unnao rape victim. On the other hand, a murder case was filed against BJP lawmaker Kuldeep Sengar on Monday after Unnao rape survivor’s family alleged conspiracy behind last evening's horrific accident. Ten persons including BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, his brother Manoj Singh Sengar were booked under Sections 302 (Murder), 307, 506 120-b. Reports say 15-20 unidentified persons were also named in the FIR.
