Prabodhini Ekadashi signifies the awakening of the god. Chaturmas penance ends on this day. It is sometimes called Deva-Diwali or Deva-Deepawali, the festival of lights of the gods. Karthikai Deepam is a related festival celebrated in South India and Sri Lanka on a different date.

The Income tax department has conducted raid in six different states including Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujrat, Punjab, Haryana and Mumbai. The raid was called out after the income tax department got the information that hoarding was also responsible for the increased prices.
