A major rail mishap took place near Cuttack in Odisha on Thursday morning, due to dense fog. The Mumbai-Bhubaneswar Express Lokmanya Tilak Express was derailed near Cuttack Nirgundi station. As per initial figures, 40 people have been injured, of which 5 are in a critical condition.

J&K: 36 Union Ministers on visit to spread word about govt's policies
Post nullification of Article 370, 36 Union Ministers will be visiting Jammu and Kashmir later this week in order to spread word about the government's policies, particularly those taken in the last five months after the abrogation of Article 370. The group of Central ministers will visit Jammu and Kashmir, including sensitive areas in the Valley. The ministers will visit different districts in both the UTs of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, between January 18 and January 25.
Post nullification of Article 370, 36 Union Ministers will be visiting Jammu and Kashmir later this week in order to spread word about the government's policies, particularly those taken in the last five months after the abrogation of Article 370. Sharma, District Education Officer said "the principal was suspended, as he didn't take permission from concerned authorities before allowing the NGO to distribute notebooks carrying Savarkar's photos among the students.” School’s Principal RN Kerawat, is a winner of the President's Award.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to hail the Indian Army for fighting all odds and saving the life of a pregnant lady stuck in snow in Kashmir. The Prime Minister wrote: “Our Army is known for its professionalism. It is also respected for its humanitarian spirit. Whenever people have needed help, our Army has risen to the occasion and done everything possible! Proud of our Army. I pray for the good health of Shamima and her child”.

Since the abrogation of Article 370, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah has been in detention. He is presently kept in detention at Hari Nivas but now he will be shifted to his official residence, bringing somewhat relief for him. It has been 163 days since Abdullah has been under preventive custody. Hari Nivas will be used to accommodate ministerial delegation from the Centre.
