RBI takes Yes Bank control, withdrawals capped at Rs 50,000


Yes Bank was placed under a "moratorium" on late Thursday, with the RBI (Reserve Bank of India) capping depositor withdrawals at Rs 50,000 per account. The central bank has imposed a moratorium on capital-starved Yes Bank. RBI, in a notification, has said, that the financial position of Yes Bank has undergone a steady decline due to the inability to raise capital to address potential loan losses and resultant downgrades.

With a new case being reported in Ghaziabad on Thursday, India's COVID number is now at 30. Till Wednesday, 29 people, including 16 Italian tourists, had tested positive for coronavirus. The list also includes the first three cases in the country from Kerala last month. Besides, Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia announced that all primary schools in the National Capital will remain closed till 31 March to prevent the possibility of the spread of coronavirus.
