62% voter turnout recorded as polling ends in 72 constituencies


According to official Election Commission data, the estimated percentage of votes polled in the fourth phase of General Elections was 61.97 per cent. According to the EC's official app Voter Turnout, Jammu and Kashmir recorded 10.5 per cent voter turnout, while amid violence, West Bengal saw 64 per cent voting by the end of the day. Reports of EVM malfunctioning in several states and poll boycott in West Bengal's Asansol came to light in the initial hours of the phase 4 polling of the Lok Sabha elections.
