A polio vaccination team was thrashed and held hostage in Meerut after residents mistook them as a data collection team for National Population Register and National Register for Citizens. The incident has highlighted the looming fear of NRC and NPR among people as the debate over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) continues to rage. One of the polio team members revealed how information about a child's parents infuriated the people and who later thrashed them.
