India has been put on alert over a new Covid strain which was discovered in the UK British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Saturday announced new stricter coronavirus restrictions for London and parts of England to combat an alarming surge in infections linked to a new virulent strain.The Prime Minister said the latest infections in many parts of southeast England are "being driven by the new variant of the virus.""New variant may be up to 70 percent more transmissible," he said.
